Greg Cohen, Founder and President
Greg Cohen started his musical journey in St. Louis, MO at 8 years old when he started playing his mother's old Classical, Nylon-stringed guitar under the education of musical entrepreneur Rick Recht. At age 15, Greg founded his own record label - Guest Room Productions - out of the basement of his house, utilizing rudimentary digital technology on an 8-Track Digital Recorder. In the pre-Pro Tools era, Greg learned the ins-and-outs of production by producing mutliple albums for bands at his high school. At the same time, Greg spent time producing small-scale concerts at his high school doing everything involved with the shows from soundboard set-up, performing, in-show mixing, and take-down.
At age 18, Greg attended Emory University where he spent all 4 years producing shows and events on campus. In his time there, Greg worked with local Atlanta musicians, Emory musicians, and national music acts to produce 13+ University-wide concerts in addition to multiple dance and speaker events. He served as both the President and Vice President of the organization in charge of these ventures and worked hard to develop the skills of not just event planning, but event realization as well - coming up with a new idea for a project and then taking the necessary steps to make any idea happen.
Since then, Greg discovered that the old models of the music industry are long out-dated but still being used. Gone are the days of the traditional record label; going are the days of huge national acts selling out 30,000+ arenas; and now are the days of regional and local acts consolidating fan bases and being involved with more than just music - this is the age of the full-fledged Entertainment Industry. From artist development, management and booking to fashion to unique events to showcase talent, this New Age of Entertainment relies on local resources and experience to help new talents to grow and share their creativity with the world.
Greg is currently working hard to unify music in Georgia and bring people together - this is why he welcomes any and all emails to discuss projects and networking. Everyone's heard the adage: "it's not what you know, it's who you know." Only by working together can we achieve our goals and that is why Greg welcomes your friendship and professional affiliation.
